The Frist job interview skills

When they've not been in the employment marketplace for a few years, even assured executives and managers become concerned about job interviews. Rusty interviewing abilities are best sharpened by practice.Applicants should get ready for the interview, set interview goals, be rested and relaxed, listen actively, and offer direct, concise answers. They should not hide mess ups, initiate a compensation discussion, or make hunches about whether or not they have the job. Make preparations for the interview. Applicants should predict questions and prepare their replies.

They deserve to be able to articulate their gifts and talents and be well placed to state their achievements impassively.

Applicants should understand precisely what the employer is trying to find, be in a position to compare their capabilities with the hiring company's wants and gauge how well they fit the position's requirements. The employer's money situation, special challenges, and unique opportunities also should be determined for possible fit.

Set interview goals. Applicants should prepare one or two key communications objectives for the interview that will highlight their strengths. Then, wherever an interviewer leads the discussion, candidates can raise the important points that tell their story.

Having these goals also will give applicants some control of the interview process. These points shouldn't make their first appearance in a follow-up letter because that might be too late.
