I lately graduated from school with a Finance degree. I was two courses shy of double-majoring with a Selling degree also. Around a month after university I got work at a not-for-profit in N. Y Town as a Junior Finance researcher. I have been there nearly half a year and have found that a Finance / Accounting position is just not for me. I do not really want to sit behind a desk forty hours a week for the following forty years of my life looking at spreadsheets. So for the last 2 months I have been applying to promoting roles and other, more fascinating sounding finance roles ( the commute to the town is too much for me ), but haven't actually gotten a bite.
During school and university I worked at a children's entertaining centre where we also held company events and I feel a bit like that'd be something I could sink my teeth into ( event coordinator, etc. ) I am attempting to find some clean cut recommendation regarding how to move from the Finance industry into a Promoting position. I can not truly afford to return to college just yet and I'd truly enjoy being in a situation where I'm able to move around and engage with folk as well as brainstorm and use my creative side ( NOT a sales job or a situation where almost all of my income comes from commission. ) I also have a Business Info Systems minor, in case that info is relevent. Thank you for any help offered.
It is Really tough to get into Promoting , even with a Promoting major and internships. If you'd like promoting, you could have to take a look at Admin aid in the Selling dep.. Nevertheless it sounds to me like you don ' t need Promoting as such, but instead something similar to event coordinator. Look at non-profits, hostels, catering corporations, and so on. After you get your foot in that door you can at last choose if you would like to do that for companies, non-profits, marriages, whatever. Many independent firms in this field are tiny 1 or 2 man offices so you ' ll have to hunt around a lot.
Also, look at Finance in non-profits. You may not feel so locked in a desk if you know that your finance job has a real cause and effect effect on somebody ' s life. Stuff like credit advisor or finance planner may give you the people interaction and capability to be imaginative with finances that would tie things together for you.
